Abstract

Fletnner rotor merupakan alat yang berguna untuk merubah energi angin menjadi gaya dorong kapal. Flettner rotor bekerja berdasar prinsip magnus effect. Alat ini dipasang pada geladak kapal agar dapat mengolah angin sebaik mungkin di ruang terbuka. Gaya dorong pada dari flettner rotor dapat dimanfaatkan sebagai pendorong kapal agar mesin kapal tidak perlu bekerja maksimum, sehingga konsumsi bahan bakar dapat dikurangi. PT. Pertamina (PERSERO) selaku BUMN yang bergerak di bidang minyak dan gas, membutuhkan kapal tanker yang ramah konsumsi bahan bakar. Dari kasus ini, dicari variasi peletakan rotor yang optimal, potensi gaya dorong berdasar kecepatan angin rata-rata di perairan indonesia dari sudut 00, 600, 900, dan 1200, dan pengaruh terhadap kestabilan kapal. Flettner rotor dimodelkan menggunakan Ansys Fluent dengan menggunakan metode Moving Mesh kemudian dianalisa gaya dorongnya untuk masing-masing posisi peletakan rotor, dan stabilitas kapal berdasar kriteria IMO Resolution A.749(18). Dari hasil analisa ditemukan bahwa posisi penempatan paling optimal adalah 5 flettner rotor di geladak pada posisi segaris di centreline. 5 flettner rotor mampu memberikan penghematan bahan bakar 22.1% pada sudut angin 600, 22.3% pada sudut angin 900, 14.9% pada sudut angin 1200, dan menambah konsumsi bahan bakar 1.1% pada saat tidak digunakan. Peletakan 5 flettner rotor tidak mengurangi kestabilan kapal secara signifikan dan tetap memenuhi kriteria IMO Resolution A.749(18).

Fletner rotor is a device that serve to convert wind energy into the thrust for the ship. The Flettner rotor works based on the magnus effect principle. This device is mounted on the deck of the ship so to optimize wind stream in open space. The thrust on the flettner rotor can be used as a thruster so the ship's engine does not need to work at maimum power, so that fuel consumption can be reduced too. PT. Pertamina (PERSERO) as a state-owned company engaged in oil and gas, requires tankers that are fuel-friendly. From this case, optimal rotor placement variation, potential thrust force based on the average wind speed in Indonesian waters from the angles of 00, 600, 900, and 1200, and the effect on ship stability is sought. Flettner rotors are modeled using Ansys Fluent using the Moving Mesh method and then the thrust force for each rotor laying position, and ship stability based on the criteria of IMO Resolution A.749 (18) is analyzed. From the results of the analysis it was found that the most optimal placement position is 5 rotor flettner on the deck inline position at centreline. 5 flettner rotors can provide fuel savings of 22.1% at 600 wind angles, 22.3% at 900 wind angles, 14.9% at 1200 wind angles, and add 1.1% fuel consumption when not in use. Mounting of 5 flettner rotors did not significantly reduce ship stability and still met the criteria of IMO Resolution A.749 (18).
