Abstract
Karena maraknya globalisasi dalam berbagai bidang termasuk bidang arsitektur di Indonesia, kesempatan ini perlu dimanfaatkan untuk mengglobalkan arsitektur lokal indonesia. Tujuan dari perancangan ini adalah menghasilkan rancangan yang mampu memenuhi setiap kriteria rancang dan mampu menunjukan proses transformasi ukiran kawit sebagai identitas daerah pada perpustakaan daerah Kalimantan Utara. Selain itu mampu menerapkan teori-teori identitas dan transformasi pada objek perancangan agar makna dan bentuk dari ukiran kawit dapat terlihat sebagai identitas daerah. Proses rancang yang digunakan adalah Divergence – transformation – Convergence. Divergence adalah proses pengumpulan data yang berkaitan dengan perancangan dengan metode Literatur searching dan Interview. Transformation adalah proses pengolahan data dengan metode rancang transformasi, dan convergence adalah proses analisa hasil dari perancangan yang dilakukan dengan metode check list. Pada proses rancang, metode transformasi digunakan untuk menghasilkan rancangan yang mencerminkan identitas dari daerah Kalimantan Utara. Hasil dari penelitian ini adalah rancangan yang mampu memenuhi aspekaspek pembentuk identitas antara lain material lokal, bentuk tradisional, simbolsimbol budaya, dan respon terhadap iklim. Hasil tersebut ditunjukan melalui bentuk bangunan yang melengkung tanpa sudut, pola persegi yang membentuk ukiran dengan skala yang besar dan mengalami gradasi ukuran yang berfungsi untuk sirkulasi udara. Pada ruang dalam ukiran ditampilkan dari pola pembayangan ukiran yang diletakkan pada fasad. Bentuk-bentuk lengkung dari ukiran kawit juga digunakan pada elemen tapak berupa pagar dengan bentuk lengkung tanpa akhir.

Because of the rampant globalization in various fields including the field of architecture in Indonesia, this opportunity needs to be utilized to globalize Indonesian local architecture. The purpose of this design is to produce a design that is able to meet every design criterion and be able to show the transformation process of kawit carving as a regional identity in the North Kalimantan regional library then applying identity theories and transformation to design objects so that the meaning and shape of kawit carving can be seen as identity area. The design process used is Divergence - Transformation - Convergence. Divergence is the process of collecting data relating to the design using the Literature searching method and Interview. Transformation is the process of processing data with the design method of transformation, and convergence is the process of analyzing the results of the design carried out by the check list method. In the design process, the transformation method is used to produce a design that reflects the identity of the North Kalimantan region. The results of this study are designs that are able to fulfill aspects of identity formation, including local material, traditional forms, cultural symbols, and responses to climate. These results are shown through a curved corner shape, a square pattern that forms a large scale carving and undergoes a gradation of size that functions for air circulation. In the space in the engraving displayed from the pattern of carving images placed on the facade. The curved shapes of kawit carvings are also used on the tread elements in the form of fences with endless curved shapes.
