Abstract

One of the important parameters of the performance of a diesel engine is specific fuel oil consumption (SFOC). Specific fuel oil consumption has the definition of how much fuel is needed to produce 1kWh of electrical energi, and normally depends on the actual power of the engine (Lundh, 2016). The types of dynamometers available on the market in Indonesia are very limited and can only be used to measure vehicle torque instead of engine torque, and with the price of one unit which is quite expensive so it is relatively unreachable for newly developing research institutions. This research was conducted in two methods, namely engineering methods and experimental methods. This measuring instrument uses components, namely disc brakes with a diameter of 180mm, caliper nissin, master brake nissin, 100 kg load cell, engine speed sensor IR-08H. Combining sensors using an Arduino UNO microkontroller and then displayed on a 4x20 LCD display and will be recorded using Microsoft Excel. There are several indikators that will be displayed in the LCD display and excel data, including the test time, engine load, engine speed, torque, power, and sfoc value. From the test data, it was found that the accuracy value of 100 kg load cell was 99.74%, and the accuracy of the engine speed sensor was 99.64%, and the accuracy value for the whole device was 99.69%. This tool has several advantages, including the reading of the value of power and specific fuel oil consumption automatically and can monitor the test indikators on the LCD display
